Pool Calc vs Jobber for Pool Service

Jobber is polished field service software used across many trades: quotes, scheduling, invoices, payments and a client hub. Its App Store rating, 4.8 from 5.1K ratings, is earned. What its listing doesn't describe is pool chemistry. Pool Calc is a pool chemistry app first, with clients, a route and reports on Plus or Pro. Many solo techs will want one or the other; some will want both.

The short answer

Jobber is excellent business software that isn't specific to pools. Pool Calc is pool chemistry software with enough business tools for a solo route. If billing and quoting are your pain, Jobber solves them. If the water is, Pool Calc does, for $79.99 a year, and it sits fine next to Jobber.

Jobber's Core plan is $588 a year at the monthly list price, or $252 in the first year with annual billing. Pool Calc Pro is $79.99 a year. They do different jobs, so the useful question is which of those jobs you need done in an app.

The pool part

At a pool, the work is the water. Pool Calc's stop screen takes the readings, shows the doses in order for the products on your truck, and logs each one with "Mark as added", including its cost. The client's report shows readings, what was added, the tasks and photos.

Chemical cost per client

Every dose you mark as added stores its cost from the container price on your shelf. Pool Calc's Chemical use & cost screen totals it by client, by pool and by chemical, for this month, last month, the last three months, the year or all time. Export it as CSV and bill chemicals in Jobber or anywhere else.

Using both

Pool Calc and Jobber don't connect. Some techs quote, schedule and bill in Jobber and use Pool Calc at the pool. You'd keep two client lists; Pool Calc imports clients from a CSV file or Contacts to make that quicker.

What Jobber Users Complain About

Paraphrased from public reviews. Each one links to where it was posted and gives the month it was written.

  • Pricing tiers that climb. A May 2023 App Store reviewer said "the pricing plan structure of the tiers ultimately made us cancel" (App Store review, May 2023). An April 2023 reviewer felt the system was overpriced for what they used (App Store review, April 2023).

Pool Calc approach: two paid plans with the same tools, one price per person, no seats to add.

  • The app is harder to use in the field than the website. A 2022 reviewer said the calendar was hard to scan and the app hard to use in the field (App Store review, August 2022).

Pool Calc approach: there is no website; the phone app is the product, with one screen per stop.

When Jobber is the better choice

  • You need quotes, invoices, online payments and automatic payment collection.
  • You run a team and want crew scheduling, time tracking and QuickBooks Online sync.
  • You do other trades besides pools and want one system for all of them.
  • You want a client hub where customers approve quotes and pay online.

Questions people ask

Does Jobber work for pool service?

Jobber is general field service software: scheduling, quotes, invoicing, payments and a client hub. Its App Store description and pricing page don't mention pool chemistry, readings or dosing (checked 28 October 2026). Pool techs who use Jobber often keep a separate app for the chemistry.

Can I use Pool Calc with Jobber?

Yes, side by side. They don't connect. Keep quotes, scheduling and billing in Jobber, and use Pool Calc for readings, doses, the visit log and the report. Pool Calc can export visits, readings and chemicals as CSV.

How much does Jobber cost?

On 28 October 2026 Jobber listed Core at $49 a month for one user with monthly billing, or $21 a month for the first 12 months then $29 with annual billing, with higher plans for teams. There's a 14-day free trial.
