Built for one tech, not an office
Pool Brain's strengths are company strengths: required checklists, required photos, equipment records and an office side. A founder reviewing Pool Brain on Capterra said as much (quoted below). Pool Calc is the opposite trade: everything happens on the phone, there is no office console, and nothing is required except what you choose to record.
Optional photos, no location prompt
Pool Calc doesn't ask for location access at all. Maps opens through Apple Maps when you tap an address, and photos are optional per stop. Pool Brain reviewers describe required photos slowing field work and a location prompt on every open.
Bring your client list
Pool Calc imports clients from a CSV file (name, address, phone, email, gallons and sanitizer, matched loosely) or straight from Contacts, with a preview before anything is added. A Pool Brain reviewer on Capterra in January 2023 listed "the inability to mass upload customers if you're not using Quickbooks" as a drawback (Capterra review, January 2023).
